OAKLAND, Calif. – Fresno Pacific and UC San Diego shared the pool in the 2019 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championship match, and now both team’s head coaches will share the league’s top coaching distinction..

FPU’s Bryan Suhovy and UCSD’s Brad Kreutzkamp have been named WWPA Co-Coach of the Year following a postseason vote by league coaches.

For Suhovy, it is the first time he has taken home the honor in just his second season competing in the WWPA. He led the Sunbirds (10-20) to the No. 2-seed and a runner up finish in the conference tournament, both program bests. In addition, he mentored three all-conference players and had three players earn all-tournament.

Kreutzkamp notches his fifth WWPA Coach of the Year award following a season in which the Tritons won their seventh-consecutive conference title – eighth overall – and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals following an opening-round victory over postseason rival Wagner. His Tritons (22-14) had six players named all-conference, including Co-Player of the Year Chanel Schilling, and four players named all-tournament, including MVP Reilly Gallagher. Kreutzkamp ended the WWPA postseason tournament having won 45 straight conference contests.
