The number of women signing up and participating in sport is increasing, with some sports having more females than males signing up.
However, there is an evergrowing issue of pay between professional males and females. Due to this, women face greater adversity when participating in sport.
Cricket Australia is taking steps to close the wage gap. Five years ago, female players were earning an average of $79,000. This has since increased to $200,000 a year, with this expected to increase in 2023 when pay renegotiations take place.
