Australia’s male and female Hockey groups will fly out for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires Argentina on Tuesday.
Australia female and male teams will contend in Hockey in the quadrennial event which runs from 6-18 October.
At the ‘Champ Camp’ held at St Ignatius College, Riverview, the banner carrier was confirmed on Monday at a formal group gathering. The Australian male and female Hockey groups were declared in July, before the pools and timetables were affirmed in September.
In the ladies’ opposition, Australia are in Pool B against China, Mexico, Namibia, Poland and Zimbabwe.
In the men’s occasion, Australia are also in Pool B up against Austria, Bangladesh, Canada, India and Kenya.
The Pool stages will happen between Sunday 7th October and Thursday 11th October. Classification and Quarter-Final matches will be held on Friday 12th October, with further classification matches and the Semi-Finals on Saturday 13th October. The final medal matches occur on Sunday 14th October.
Set in the Youth Olympic Park in the southern region of the city, the Hockey5s events are set to become the focal point with hosts Argentina attracting huge local fans, passionate for their support of the game.
